- Quality Control Testing After Assembly - The TR1-70 Heat Detectors are tested after assembly. A certain percentage of fuses are tested for temperature accuracy after each lot is manufactured.
- Corrosion Resistant - The TR1-70 Heat Detector is all metal construction, manufactured with the metal zinc and additional alloys that make it stronger and resistant to corrosion. This is important for fire detection over many years exposure to the elements in a residence.
- Visual Notification of Activation - When a TR1-70 Heat Detector is activated, the firing pin will be exposed and a reddish ring will be displayed after the top has been removed.
- Heat Collector to Assure Proper Heat Transfer - The copper concave area that surrounds the fuse is used to collect heat and provide a more accurate transfer to the fuse area.
- Positive Lock Mounting Bracket - The TR1-70 Heat Detector will slide on the installed bracket and lock into place.
- Mechanical Construction
- Continued Alarm at High Temperatures - In a flame ignition fire, the TR1-70 Heat Detector will continue to alarm occupants even as the temperature at the ceiling continues to escalate. This is because of its all metal construction.
- Permits Installation in High Risk Areas - Kitchens, garages, attics, utility rooms, mechanical rooms or any area that a smoke detector should not be placed.
- Reusable After Minor Fires - Because of the all metal, mechanical construction in many cases the TR1-70 Heat Detector can be rewound and installed after fire has caused activation.
- Three Rating Sensors for Quicker Response - The TR1-70 Heat Detector can be installed with a 117˚, 136˚, or 175˚ fuse. This allows the detector to be installed in many areas for the quickest response.
- Portable - Because the TR1-70 Heat Detector is a single-station device, it is easily transportable to another location.
- No Electrical Power Required - Because of its mechanical construction and the constant torque motor there is no need for an electrical power source. This makes the TR1-70 Heat Detector very reliable since batteries do not have to be changed.
- Minimal Maintenance
- 25 Year Warranty (Long Lasting)
- Extremely Reliable to Flame Ignition Fires - Long-term reliability is crucial in a fire detection plan. The TR1-70 Heat Detector is the most reliable detector, over time, for detecting flame ignition fires.

The TR1-70 Heat Detector is a high quality early warning fire detection device.
While Chapter 8 does not require heat detectors as part of the basic protection scheme, it is recommended that the householder consider the use of additional heat detectors for the same reasons presented under A-8-1.2.1 (c). The additional area lending themselves to protection with heat detectors are the kitchen, dining room, attic (finished or unfinished), furnace room, utility room, basement, and integral or attached garage. For bedrooms, the installation of a smoke detector is recommended over the installation of a heat detector for protection of the occupants from fires in their bedrooms.
Section A-8-1.2.4 (b); The National Fire Alarm Code
NOTE: Smoke detectors give earlier warnings than heat detectors in nearly all residential fires. This is because detectable levels of smoke almost always develop before detectable levels of heat.
